Man kills wife suspecting illicit affair

June 21, 2017

Hunsur: A man, suspecting that his wife was having an affair with a youth, hacked her to death with a machete at Mantikoppal village in the taluk yesterday. While the deceased woman has been identified as Lakshmi (35), the alleged killer husband has been identified as 45-year-old Dharma.

Dharma, who suspected that his wife was having illicit affair with a youth in the village, had given a complaint to the village leaders, who had called both Dharma and Lakshmi for a meeting to solve the issue yesterday.

During the meeting, Lakshmi had denied the allegations made by her husband and had accused her husband of doubting her unnecessarily Lakshmi had also questioned the village leaders as to how she could lead a life with the doubtful husband and informed them that she would go to her parents house for a few days for which the village leaders are said to have agreed and asked her to return after her husband’s doubts were cleared.

When Lakshmi went to her house and was packing her clothes to go to her parents’ house in Moodalakoppal, Dharma, who came to the house, hacked her to death with a machete, told the people that he was going to jail and was boarding a bus to K.R. Nagar, when the Hunsur Rural Police arrested him.

ASP Harish Pande, Circle Inspector Dharmendra and SI Puttaswamy visited the spot.

Hunsur Rural Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.

How a missed call led to the tragedy

Victim Lakshmi, a few days ago, had given her phone to a youth in the village to get it repaired. The youth, who had saved Lakshmi’s phone number, gave a missed call yesterday.

Dharma, who was at home at that time, called up the number and came to know that the number belongs to a youth in the village.

He fought with the youth who had given the missed call and began to doubt his wife besides informing the village leaders, who then called for a meeting to solve the issue, but finally hacked Lakshmi to death.
