Mysuru: A man allegedly murdered his wife by strangulating her at their house in Bhyraweshwara Nagar here on Wednesday night.
The deceased is Geethanjali (25), who was residing at Bhyraweshwaranagar 7th Cross in city and her husband who killed her is Umesh, who has since gone absconding.
A native of Yamadur in Malavalli taluk, Geethanjali and Umesh, who were in love got married about three years ago and were living in Mysuru. It is learnt that Umesh used to pick up fight for petty reasons with his wife and on Wednesday night, Umesh, who had come drunk, picked up a quarrel with his wife and strangled her to death using a cloth.
Meanwhile, Metagalli Inspector Sunil Kumar and staff, who rushed to the spot on being informed by the neighbours at about 12 noon yesterday, conducted mahazar and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem.
Based on the complaint by Geethanjali’s parents, Metagalli Police, who have registered a case in this regard, have launched a hunt to nab Umesh, who is at large.
