Absconds after burying body in field

Malavalli: A 42-year-old man, who was released from jail about six months ago, after serving for eight years in a murder case, has again committed murder and this time, he has allegedly murdered his wife, buried the body in a field and has gone absconding.

The incident took place at Kalluveeranahalli in the taluk and the accused is Shivaraju alias Kiccha of the village.

Details: Shivaraju, who had married his sister’s daughter Rani, has an 11-year-old son. Shivaraju, who had committed a murder in Doddaballapur, was sentenced to eight years jail. After serving the sentence, he was released from jail about six months ago and was staying at his house in the village.

It is learnt that Shivaraju, who suspected that his wife was having an affair, used to quarrel with her and had also assaulted her.

Yesterday morning, villagers who saw blood stains in front of the house, suspected something fishy but did not find Shivaraju or Rani in the house.

The villagers then followed the blood stains which led to the agricultural field of one Yogesh, where the villagers saw a portion of the land dug up and covered. The villagers immediately informed the Police.

Mandya SP Dr. Ashwini, Malavalli Dy.SP Lakshminarayana Prasad and staff, who got the dug up portion opened in the presence of Tahsildar Vijayanna, found the body of Rani and got the post-mortem done.

Malavalli Rural Circle Inspector Dhanraj, Sub-Inspector B. Ravikumar and staff also visited the spot. Malavalli Rural Police, who have registered a case, have launched a hut to nab Shivaraju, who is absconding.
