Mysuru: A City Court has sentenced a man to 10 years imprisonment besides imposing a penalty of Rs. 10,000 on him for sexually assaulting his 7-year-old daughter.

Shivashankar, 40, a resident of Manjunathanapura, Gokulam 4th Stage, is the one who has been sentenced.

Shivashankar was charged by the V.V. Puram Police under rape, POCSO and JJ Act on Oct. 24, 2016 for sexually abusing his daughter and a charge-sheet was submitted against him in the Court.

The City’s 6th Additional District and Sessions Court and Special POCSO Court Judge, who heard the case, convicted Shivashankar of the charges and sentenced him to 10  years imprisonment.

Public Prosecutor Lakshmidevi argued on behalf of the State.
