Mysore/Mysuru: City’s 5th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to five years imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 11,000 after he was found guilty of attempting to kill his wife.

The convict is Nagaraju, a resident of Hittuvalli village in T. Narasipur taluk, coming under Bannur Police limits.

Details: Nagaraju was married to Chennamma in 2007 and the couple have three children. According to the complaint lodged by Chennamma with the Police on May 11, 2017, after the third child was born, Nagaraju began to assault and harass her physically and mentally which was supported by Nagaraju’s mother and sister. On May 4, 2017 night, her husband and his family members had assaulted her and her parents had advised Nagaraju, she added.

Chennamma had further stated in her complaint that the next day (May 5, 2017) at about 5 pm, while she was washing clothes, Nagaraju took her to the room and tried to suffocate her with a pillow in a bid to kill her.

The then Bannur Sub-Inspector D.K. Latesh Kumar, who had registered a case, had submitted the charge-sheet to the Court and Judge K. Doddegowda, who took up the hearing, heard the arguments from both sides, found Nagaraju guilty of the crime and sentenced him to five years jail and imposed Rs. 11,000 fine.
