Man sentenced to life for killing sister

Mysuru: The Fourth Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment and has imposed a fine of Rs.1 lakh for killing his sister.

The man who was sentenced is Basappa, a resident of D. Saluhundi in the taluk.

Following property feud, Basappa, on Sept.1, 2017, had hit his elder sister Shivamma with a wooden reaper injuring her seriously following which she was admitted to a private hospital in Mysuru where Shivamma succumbed to injuries.

Mysuru Rural Circle Inspector Abdul Kareem Rawther, who had registered a case, conducted investigation and had submitted a charge-sheet against the accused to the Court.

Judge Hosamani Pundalika, who took up the hearing, heard the arguments from both sides and found the accused guilty of committing the crime and sentenced him to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs.1 lakh. 

The accused has to undergo an additional six months simple imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine. Public Prosecutor P.B. Dharennavar argued for the Government.
