Man with 80 kg venison nabbed by Forest officials

Hunsur: A man, who had poached a Sambar deer in the reserve forest and stored the venison (deer meat), has been arrested by the Forest Department officials yesterday.

The arrested poacher is Swamy of Lakshmipura village in Anechowkur Reserve Forest area.

Acting on a tip off that Swamy had stored about 80 kg venison in his house, a team of Forest officials led by Range Forest Officer (RFO) S. Hanumantharaju, on instruction from Conservator of Forests (CF) Narayanaswamy and Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) S.R. Prasanna Kumar, raided the house of Swamy and seized the meat, a machete besides arresting Swamy. A team has been formed to nab four others involved in it.

Deputy Range Forest Officers (DRFO) Rathnakar and Nanjappa, Forest Guards B.S. Diwakar and C.M. Sanjay Kumar and staff Arun Kumar, Prasanna, Mallappa and Ningaraju, took part in the raid.
