Mandatory Kannada paper rule dropped

January 30, 2022

In a decision that would not go well with Kannada lovers, the State Government has withdrawn the order making Kannada language paper mandatory for Under Graduate Courses. The Government’s decision comes in the wake of an interim order of the High Court. According to the State Government’s revised order, students who have already joined Under-Graduate courses can opt for the language of their choice instead of Kannada. The Government has issued a circular in this regard to the Vice-Chancellors of all State-run and Private Varsities as well as to the Principals of all Government, aided and unaided colleges.
