Marathon run marks World Cancer Day

Mysuru: A Marathon Run as part of ‘World Cancer Day’ was organised jointly by Kanasu Foundation and Suyog Hospital, here yesterday. Hundreds of runners participated in the run to create awareness about cancer and how to fight it.

The run was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep at the Oval Grounds. The runners passed through Hunsur Road, SJCE Road, Bogadi Road Junction, Kukkarahalli Road and returned to the Oval ground.

The run was organised for men, women, boys and girls categories. All of them wore similar T-shirts and the runners were encouraged by providing them water and fruits.

On the occasion, Professor Ramesh Bilikere, boxing champion Girish and Vittal, who had fought cancer and won, were felicitated.

JD (S) leader and University of Mysore former Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa, BJP leader Prasanna N. Gowda, Suyog Hospital Founder Dr. C. P. Yoganna, former Mayor Lingappa, Kanasu Foundation office-bearers Girish Gowda, Abhishek, N.Tejas, Arjun and others were present.
