Mysore/Mysuru: Observing that organising contests in Martial arts such as Kung Fu and Karate, would be more suitable for women Police, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rohini Sindhuri said it is heartening to note that women in the State Police force are well-versed in the art of self-defence.

She was speaking after distributing prizes to winners of various contests organised for women Police  personnel by the District Police as part of International Women’s Day, at the SP office premises in Nazarbad here on Friday.

Noting that women at lower level in the Police force face several challenges, both official and domestic, the DC said that it is happy to note that women Police personnel are balancing their work and responsibilities.

Stressing on the need for women to keep a watch on their health, the DC said that regular health check-ups will help in maintaining health and physical fitness.

Superintendent of Police (SP) C.B. Ryshyanth, in his address, said that it is satisfactory to note that women Police do not hesitate to work in night shifts. Highlighting the work of women Police  even under trying circumstances, the SP said that the service of women Police must always be remembered.

The winners of various contests were distributed prizes on the occasion. They are: 

Rangoli Contest: 1st prize – PSI Lakshmi and 2nd – Sushma and Kumuda of DPO; Singing: 1st – Geetha of DPO and 2nd – Sunitha; Skit: 1st – Vidyarani and 2nd  – Preeti Kavalande; Dance: 1st – Poornima and 2nd – Preethu; Fancy Dress: 1st – Pushpabai and 2nd – Nandini Varuna; Ramp Walk: 1st – Geetha and 2nd – Nalini Talkad; Miscellaneous: 1st – Poornima and 2nd – Nandini.

Additional SP R. Shivakumar was also present during the occasion.
