Sir,
It is noticed that many goods vehicles fix an extra heavy rod behind their vehicles to act as an accident barrier. This may protect the vehicles from severe damage in case the vehicles are hit from the rear side.
Most of these rods mask the registration number plate of the vehicles and in case of any traffic violations by these vehicles their registration number plate cannot be photographed from back for any evidence.
Though the fixing of additional rods for safety may be illegal, neither the RTO nor the Traffic Police do take any action against such goods carriers. If it is legally permitted to fix an additional rod at the back side, it should be strictly ensured that the rods are fixed without masking the registration number plate of such vehicles.
