MasterClass on ‘Digital Payments in India: Issues and Challenges’ at MYRA on Jan. 18

January 16, 2019

Mysuru: Mysore Royal Academy (MYRA) will host its  popular “MasterClass Series” on the theme “Digital Payments in India: Issues and Challenges” by Dr. H. Raghav Rao, University of Texas, USA, on Jan. 18 from 2 pm to 5 pm at MYRA School of Business, near Infosys, Mysuru.

This MasterClass discusses the introduction to Digital Payments in India – Social and Technical issues; and an investigation of Affordances and Constraints for Continued Usage of Mobile Payment Technology in India.

Digital / Mobile payments hold promises of greater financial inclusion and hopes of transforming the nation’s economy. Demonetisation of cash in India in 2016 had pushed cash dependent users to adopt mobile payments. This offers a setting to investigate users’ continued usage of mobile payment technology two years post event.

In the first session, he will briefly discuss payment methods, history, evolution of mobile payments and various issues and challenges. In the second session, he will present a research in progress paper.

Dr. Rao will draw on his decades of international teaching, research and practice to share key insights on digital payments in India and its issues and challenges.

Presently, Dr. Raghav Rao is the AT&T Distinguished Chair in Infrastructure Assurance and Security with the University of Texas at San Antonio and a regular visiting faculty at MYRA.

A US-based scholar of Information Systems Management, his research interests are in decision support systems, e-business, cyber-security, emergency response systems and information assurance. His recent research has implications for political revolutions, anti- terrorism initiatives, and communications during natural disasters, and corporate decision making.
