Masti awardees

A total of seven achievers from Kannada Literary world have been selected for the prestigious ‘Masti award’, given by Dr. Masti Venkatesh Iyengar Trust.

The awardees are: Folk Scholar B.A. Vivek Rai (Folklore), Renowned poet Jayant Kaikini (Poetry), noted  critic Madhav Kulkarni (Critique), story writer  R. Vijayaraghavan (Poetry), well-known critic M.S. Ashadevi (Critique), Writer Vasumathi Udupa (Creativity) and  poetess H.L. Pushpa (Poetry).

The award carries a cash Prize of Rs. 25,000 each and a citation. A  selection committee headed by the Trust President Mavinakere Ranganathan and comprising members Prof. M.H. Krishnaiah, G.N. Ranganatharao, B.R. Lakshman Rao, Krishnamurthy Hanur, Usha Kesari and D.M. Ravikumar, announced the names here on Tuesday. The award will be conferred at a programme to take place at Bengaluru’s Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on Nov. 6.
