Matti puja at K.G. Koppal Garadi

Mysuru: The traditional ‘matti puja’ at Srirama Mandira Hosabeedi Hattujanagala Garadi at K.G. Koppal will be held at 7 pm on Aug. 26, said Dr. Rajkumar Abhimanigala Sangha  President M. Ramegowda.

Addressing mediaperons at Pathrakarthra Bhavan, he said that the matti (mud) for the traditional wrestling will be brought to the garadi in a grand procession from Sri Adishakti Bandanthamma – Kalamma Temple in Kuvempungar on Aug. 21 at 4 pm.  The procession will be flagged-off by Chamaraja MLA K. Harishgowda and former MLA and BJP City President L. Nagendra.

Stating that the traditional wrestling was slowly vanishing, Ramegowda said that despite such a situation, the wrestlers of six garadis in K.G. Koppal were very much active with more youngsters expressing their interest in traditional wrestling.

Former Corporator Channappa, Srirama Seva Trust President H. Eraiah, Dodda Ninganna, R. Raj Kumar, Lakshminarayana, L. Chandru were present.
