May Day celebrations: BAI hosts sports events

Mysuru: Builders’ Association of India (BAI), Mysuru Centre, had organised a programme at Mahajana’s College Grounds recently to mark May Day celebrations.

BAI Mysuru Centre Chairman S. Mahadevaswamy welcomed.

BAI Karnataka State Chairman S.R. Swamy, who was the  guest of honour, spoke about the activities of BAI Mysuru and the Karnataka as a whole.

Mysuru Builders’ Charitable Trust (MBCT) Chairman B.R. Badrinath spoke about the contribution of MBCT towards the working fraternity and asked them to utilise the benefits that are provided by the MBCT at BAI premises.

Further, Nirmala Sheker, President of Spoorthi, the ladies wing of BAI, briefed about the activities of Spoorthi and requested the construction workers to utilise the medical health check-up camps and training programmes conducted by Spoorthi in association with BAI.  

Rekha Yoganarasimha, Hon. Secretary of Spoorthi, was also present.

The chief guest of the function, Meghana G. Devanga, renowned sports personality, winner of many Gold medals in National and International sports events, inaugurated the May Day sports events by throwing the  shot-put  and releasing a bunch of balloons.

M.G. Somashekar, Hon. Joint Secretary of BAI, proposed a vote of thanks. After this many sports events were conducted.

Later in the afternoon, valedictory was held with the welcome address by Hon. Joint Secretary M.G. Somashekar.

Chief guests of the valedictory were TV artistes Veena Sundar and Sundar. Eight artisans, those who have done meritorious works in field of construction industry in different capacities, were honoured by the   chief guests.

U.M. Gurushantappa, Hon. Secretary of MBCT, asked the working class to utilise the benefits of medical treatment and medicines given to them by the MBCT at BAI premises.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the sports events. Finally, Chairman of BAI Mahadevaswarny proposed a vote of thanks.
