Mysuru: With the by-polls to 15 Assembly segments in the State over, the Government is likely to announce the Mayoral poll schedule in a couple of days.
The term of the current Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath ended on Nov.16 and the city should have got a new Mayor on Nov.17.
But the delay in the announcement of the poll schedule along with the reservation matrix, which is attributed to the by-polls, enabled Pushpalatha Jagannath to continue till the Mayoral polls are held.
There are 22 BJP members,19 Congress members,18 JD(S) members, 1 BSP member and 5 Independent members in the 65-member MCC.
After the Corporation polls held last year, Congress and JD(S) entered into an agreement and came to power in the MCC, with Pushpalatha Jagannath of Congress becoming the Mayor in November, 2018.
