MCC appeals citizens to go for eco-friendly idols

August 4, 2017

Mysuru: In view of the ensuing Gowri-Ganesha festival, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, in a press release, has appealed people to use only plain clay idols of Gowri-Ganesha and not to buy coloured or Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols which when immersed in water would release poisonous chemicals and pollute the water. He has warned of stern action against people manufacturing and selling coloured idols.

He has requested people to use mobile water tanks provided by MCC for immersion of idols after ensuring that flowers and other puja articles were removed.
