MCC ban on posters, buntings ignored

March 6, 2017

Political parties seem to be ignorant of Mysuru City Corporation’s (MCC) ban orders against pasting posters and hanging buntings in the city.

One of the political parties in the city yesterday had erected plastic cut-outs, buntings and posters around the recently constructed Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Circle (Highway Circle) and also on stretch of Jodi Thenginamara Road at Bannimantap to mark the installation ceremony of a local leader as the party’s Block Committee President.

Only today, the awakened authority (MCC) removed the flexes and cut-outs to restore the beauty of the Circle, which has been the cynosure for the tourists coming to city from Bengaluru.

Later, speaking to Star of Mysore, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha said that no political party or organisations was allowed to erect buntings and flexes in the city as it had been banned.

He also added that posters and banners made in cloth could be erected only after seeking permission. Jagadeesha said that he would ask the concerned Assistant Commissioner to file a report on yesterday’s incident and assured to initiate action.

MCC Standing Committee on Health Chairman Mahadevappa said that it was against the MCC’s rule to erect posters and banner and added that he would ask the Commissioner to initiate action against those responsible for erecting posters and buntings on Highway Circle and also against the Assistant Commissioner for being negligent on the issue.
