Mysore/Mysuru: The 2022-2023 Budget for the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) will be presented on Apr. 28 by the Chairperson of Standing Committee on Taxation, Finance and Appeals, M.S. Shobha. The date and the person who will present the Budget was decided after a long debate yesterday.
The discussion on the Budget was necessitated as there was confusion as to who will present the Budget in the wake of Mayor Sunanda Palanetra’s term ending on Feb. 24 along with the terms of Deputy Mayor and the Heads of all the four Standing Committees. Also, there was a delay in the announcement of the reservations for the Mayoral polls.
The MCC was in a fix over the Budget presentation as it had to present it by the end of this month to facilitate payment of salaries and other expenditure and also to take up development works.
In between, a section of the Corporators demanded the MCC Commissioner not to allow the Budget presentation until the Mayor and Heads of all the Standing Committees are newly elected. Later, the issue was sorted out after MCC Commissioner Lakshmikantha Reddy read out the Government order permitting Shobha to present the Budget as the Chairman of the Finance and Taxation Standing Committee.
