I-Day 80 Cleanliness Campaign

Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) that has launched Independence Day – 80 Cleanliness Campaign to identify equal number of Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVP) and clear the garbage, undertook Community Cleanliness activities on Chikka Veeranna (CV) Road, in Bannimantap on Wednesday.

The nearly six-hour cleanliness drive conducted from 6.30 am to 12 noon saw 83 tonnes of garbage cleared, involving backhoe loaders, 10 tipper lorries and five dozer vehicles. The garbage cleared included those of mixed waste, metals, plastic, building debris and others. They were collected and disposed elsewhere. Besides, the road encroachments were cleared, making an additional space for the road users for their convenience.

The shopkeepers, scrap dealers, metal vendors and other commercial stalls on C.V. Road were instructed not to dispose waste in public places. They should segregate waste generated in their stalls and scientifically dispose them, as instructed by the MCC.

Sindhu, Chief Accounts Officer (CAO) Shwetha, Executive Engineer (Environment)  Mruthyunjaya, Assistant Engineer (Electrical) Deepak, Srinivas (Civil), Mohan (UGD), Zonal Assistant Commissioner Rathnambika, other officials, staff and pourakarmikas took  part in the drive.
