MCC distributes compensation cheque to families of two Covid victims

Mysore/Mysuru: Acting Mayor Anwar Baig and MCC Commissioner G. Lakshmikantha Reddy distributed cheques for Rs. 5 lakh each to the families of two employees of Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW) who died due to COVID-19 pandemic recently.

The Mayor handed over the cheque to Kavita, wife of B.D. Manjunjath and Fatima Banu, wife of D.A. Altaf, here yesterday. Both Manjunath and Altaf were working in VVWW when they contracted the deadly virus and subsequently succumbed.

The Mayor said six employees of VVWW had died due to Corona out of which four had been paid ex-gratia compensation by the previous MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag. The families of deceased would get more compensation if DC Dr. Bagadi Gautham recommends to the State Government by treating them as Corona warriors.
