Mysore/Mysuru: Mayor Sunanda Palanetra said that the MCC has released Rs. 91 lakh for the development of Vivekananda Stadium in Kuvempunagar coming under MCC Ward No. 59.

She was speaking after presiding over the National Sports Day celebration marking Hockey legend Maj. Dhyanchand’s birthday, jointly organised by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat (ZP) and Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES), at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Nazarbad here on Sunday.

Pointing out that a park in MCC Ward No. 59 which she represents, has been converted into Vivekananda Stadium that has many facilities for children’s sporting activities, Sunanda Palanetra said that now Rs. 91 lakh has been released for betterment of facilities in the Stadium with the co-operation of Sports Department. 

Asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been giving prominence to sports, she said that talented sports persons can seek the help of the Union Government through the recommendation of the Chief Minister.
