MCC’s Old Council Hall renovated at a cost of Rs.70 lakh

Mysuru: The renovated Old Council Hall at Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is set to be inaugurated by Mayor M.J. Ravikumar this evening.

According to sources, the Old Council Hall was renovated at a cost of Rs. 70 lakh Grant from the 13th Finance Commission.

The Old Council Hall is now equipped with Air Conditioners, fans, LED lights, overhead projector (Silver Screen Projecting System with Dolby Sound System), 85 new seats with microphones, wooden walls with portraits of erstwhile rulers of Mysuru, Sir M. Visvesvaraya, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, former President of India Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri among others.

Sources said that the renovation was taken up by Contractor Ashwathnarayan and added that the renovation with hi-tech facilities was taken up as a lot of guests from across the country and abroad were frequently visiting the MCC to know about projects such as Solid Waste Management, waste segregation, etc. and added that it would be now easy for the officials to present the projects of MCC effectively through the projector and the Hall could accommodate 85 people.

Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, speaking to SOM, said that as Mysuru city bagged the No. 1 position in the Cleanest City in India twice and also known for its effective Solid Waste Management, a lot of people from other States and also abroad are frequently visiting the MCC to know about it.

He said that the facilities provided at the Old Council Hall now, would enable MCC officials to give effective presentations  to the visiting guests using the projector.

The Mayor said that the renovated Old Council Hall would be inaugurated this evening after the Council Meeting.
