The Mysore District Athletic Association (MDAA), Mysuru, will be conferring ‘Nandi Awards – 2018’ to the top athletes, sports promoter, sports journalist, sports photographer at a function to be held at Maharaja’s College Centenary Hall today (June 9) at 4 pm. N. Chandrashekar Rai, EC Member, Athletics Federation of India, will be felicitated on the occasion.

Manjunatha, Vidayadarshini Convent, Kurbur, T. Narsipur taluk, Mysuru, will be conferred with the Distinguished Sports Promoter Award. K. Nagarathna Bai, Principal Correspondent, The New Indian Express, will be conferred with the Distinguished Sports Journalist Award while K.H. Chandru, Photographer, Vijayavani, will be conferred with Distinguished Sports Photographer Award.

The Best Athletes Award will be given to W.R. Harshitha (Women’s section), C.J. Chethan (Men’s section), M.R. Dhanusha (Junior Women’s section), S.L. Sahana (Girls U-18), P. Asuthosh (Boys U-18) and Brunda S. Gowda (Girls U-14).

Former International athlete Uday K. Prabhu (Dhyanchand Awardee and Asian Games Silver Medallist) will be the guest of honour. Karnataka Athletics Association senior Vice-President H.T. Mahadeva and Hon. Secretary A. Rajavelu will be the chief guests.

MDAA Chairman and former MLA Vasu will preside. MDAA President and international athlete Somashekar and Hon. Secretary B. Srikanth and others will be present.
