Meaningful ‘Kannada Habba’ at Ramakrishna Vidyashala

Mysuru: “There is no need to have low self esteem while speaking in Kannada language,” opined senior litterateur Prof. K. Narahari.

Speaking after inaugurating Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations organised by Ramakrishna Vidyashala in the city yesterday, he said “ Now-a-days, we are using 70 percent English words in our day-to-day conversations. Currently, more emphasis is unduly laid on information-oriented education and we are neglecting value education. Spiritual, moral and social values which form part of our culture should be learned and practiced.”

He also called upon students to take an oath work for the welfare of Kannada language  and culture. 

Speaking on the occasion, Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, University of Mysore (UoM) Director of Prof. Neelagiri M. Talawar thanked Ramakrishna Ashram for grooming the icon of modern Kannada literature Rashtrakavi Kuvempu.

Dressed in colourful attire, school students exhibited posters of popular Kannada writers and poets along with a number of popular Kannada literary works. 

The students stage the play ‘Kannada Belagu’ and performed solo and group songs as well as played instrumental music. President of Ramakrishna Ashram Sri Muktidananda Swamiji, Superintendent of Ramakrishna Vidyashala Sri Yukteshananda Swamiji, Principal S. Balaji, G. Chandrashekhar, S. Chandrashekhar, Lakshminarayana Bhat and others were present.
