Medical students sensitised on IMA Junior Doctors Network

Mysuru: JSS Medical College, in association with Indian Medical Association, Karnataka State Branch (IMA KSB) and Mysuru local branch, had organised a sensitisation programme for MBBS 8th term students and interns on IMA Junior Doctors’ Network in city recently.

The even was held with  co-ordination from Dr. M.R. Narayanamurthy, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, Dr. G.V. Manjunath, Vice-Principal, JSS Medical College, Mysuru and Dr. Suresh Rudrappa, Senior Vice-President, IMA KSB.

Dr. G.V. Manjunath welcomed and explained the context of having the awareness programme on IMA Junior Doctors’ Network.

Dr. B.J. Subhash Chandra, Professor and Head, Department of General Medicine, introduced chief guest Dr. Annadani M.  Meti, President IMA KSB.

Dr. Annadani, who addressed students, briefed them about the various problems faced by Medical students and  junior doctors in medical practice and how Indian Medical Association can support for the welfare of Junior doctors.

Guest Speaker Dr. Abul Hassan, National Co-ordinator for Junior Doctors & Student Network, IMA National Headquarters, Erod, Tamil Nadu, delivered the lecture highlighting the existence of IMA Junior Doctors’ Network and the objectives and activities of the network.

He also explained about PG SATHI App in which PG aspirants can download the app and they can take mock exams whenever they want.

Dr. Abul also introduced ‘Doctor 4 Doctors’ initiative for the emotional health and emotional well-being of the Medical students and junior doctors in India. He said that it is an initiative to tackle the burden of burnout and rising rates of mental health challenges and suicides among Medical Students (UG & PG) and practicing doctors in the  clinical setting.

Mementos were given to the guest Speakers by Dr. Guruswamy, Dr. G.V. Manjunath and Dr. M.R. Narayanamurthy.

Dr. Suresh Rudrappa proposed the vote of thanks.
