Mekedatu Padayatra: Cases registered against Congress leaders in City Police Stations

Mysore/Mysuru:  More than 150 Congress party leaders including an MLA, have been booked by the City Police for taking part in the party’s Mekedatu Padayatra in violation of  COVID-19 protocol.

The Lashkar Police have booked Hunsur Congress MLA H.P. Manjunath, former MLAs Vasu and Kalale Keshavamurthy, former MLC R. Dharmasena, District Congress President Dr. B.J. Vijaykumar, Congress leader Srinath Babu and 20 others on Jan. 13, for leaving the city from Gandhi Square in city on Jan. 11 to take part in the Padayatra, in violation of COVID 19 guidelines.

Similarly, cases have been booked against a total of 157 persons under the provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act-2020, in Alanahalli, Vijayanagar, Hebbal and N.R. Police Stations.

While the Police have named 57 persons in the FIR, the remaining 100 persons have been mentioned only as accused, it is learnt.
