Mentally unsound man goes missing in Forest, traced after 22 hours

Mysuru: A mentally unsound man, who had come along with his family members on a tour and went missing in Talkad Reserve Forest, was traced after 22 hours by the Forest staff and has been brought back safely.

The man, who had gone missing is 45-year-old Ravindranath, a resident of Bolanahalli, Bilikere hobli in Hunsur taluk.

Ravindranath, along with eight others of his family came to Talkad on Monday. After visiting various temples there, Ravindranath, at about 6 pm, told that he wanted to attend nature’s call and is said to have ventured into the forest and lost his way. As Ravindranath did not come back, his family members launched a search for him but in vain.

Meanwhile, the Forest staff and Talkad Police, who were present there began to search for him near the river bank but could not find him.

Yesterday morning, DRFO M.S. Umesh, Guards Mahadevu and Lokesh, launched a search to trace Ravindranath and found him at Balegondi Forest at  4 pm.

After giving Ravindranath tender coconut and some food, the Forest staff handed him over to Talkad Police. The Talkad Police then informed Ravindranath’s family members and handed him over to them on Tuesday night.

Talkad ASI Ramesh and staff Kumar, Girish and others were present.
