MGP plants saplings in SBM Park

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP), as part of its environment protection efforts, chose to plant 25 fruit-growing and medicinal plants in SBM Park in Sriramapura, by sponsoring and jointly with the coordination of Mysore Bank Colony Residents’ Cultural and Welfare Association, SBM Colony. 

The saplings planted included Nerale, Mango, Jack Fruit, Honge, Bevu, Bela, Thare, Rain Tree, Basavana Paada and Kadu Badami. 

Thanks to Raghulal & Co. who supplied 25 tree guards free of cost and similarly, the plants were provided by Koti Vriksha organisation managed by Srikanth Bhat.

Members of MGP and the above Residents Association jointly planted the saplings and protected them by tree guards. 

MGP President Dr. Shivamurthy stressed the importance of greenery which create oxygen for humans and appealed to public to take up more of such activities as life-saving measures in this COVID-19 situation.

He also briefed various activities of the MGP and welcomed more people to join this voluntary organisation working for public cause. K.V. Ramanath, Treasurer, MGP, thanked the Residents Association and the MCC for providing space for their planting activities. He also thanked K.S. Narasimhamurthy, a member of MGP, for sponsoring this programme. 

Members present included C.R. Aswathanarayana, Vijayalakshmi Srinivasan, Arunkumar Shettar, DC Lakshukumar, Prof. B.S. Shankar, Umakanth, Aswath, Gopal and Venkatakrishna Bhat.
