MICAnvas, the State-level Annual Academic, Cultural and Sports Festival of MICA — Mysore Institute of Commerce and Arts — was kicked off at the College campus recently.
As a prelude to the Fest scheduled to be held from Jan.2 to 4, 2019, MI-Basketball (Floodlight Basketball Tournament) and MI7s (Floodlight Football Tournament) were organised on Dec.13 and 14 in the Sports Complex of the College.
MI-Basketball
In all, 24 teams from different educational institutions participated in the 2nd edition of the tournament. Results — College Boys category: MICA PU College – Winners, JSS Medical College – 1st runners-up, MICA UG College – 2nd runners-up; College Girls: Vijaya Vittalla PU College – Winners and MICA PU College – 1st runners-up; School Boys: Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan – Winners, St. Joseph’s Central School, Yelwal – 1st runners-up; School Girls: Kautilya High School – Winners.
Dhavan S. Bhoja of MICA College was adjudged ‘The Best Player’ in the College category and Deepak of BVB, Mysuru, was adjudged ‘The Best Player’ in the School category.
MI7s – Football
In the 5th edition of MI7s Floodlight State-level Football Tournament, 41 teams from various Colleges of Mysuru, Mandya, Kodagu, Hassan and Bengaluru fiercely competed to win MI7s trophy.
The defending champions of MI7-2017, Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College, Madikeri, went down to MRIT – Mysore Royal Institute of Technology, Mysuru, 0-2 in the penalty shootout. Mohit Cariappa of MRIT was adjudged ‘The Best Player’ of the Tournament and Musthahid Ahamed of MRIT as ‘The Best Goal Keeper.’
The medals, trophies, cash prize, certificates would be awarded on Jan.3, 2019 at the Cultural Night of MICAnvas ’19 at MICA campus.
