Hunsur: A 40-year-old milk vendor, who was carrying milk cans to Milk Producers Co-op Society at Kademanuganahalli had a miraculous escape, when a wild tusker attacked him at about 6.30 am in Mathigodu Range in Nagarahole Reserve Forest today.
Details: 40-year-old Ravi of Kademanuganahalli was proceeding from Kikkeri Katte with milk cans to Milk Producers Co-op Society at Kademanuganahalli. When he was passing through Mathigodu Range in Nagarahole Forest on his scooter (KA-09-HL-7312), a wild tusker which was standing on the roadside suddenly attacked him.
Ravi, using his presence of mind left his scooter and managed to flee to a safe distance. But the wild tusker trampled his scooter damaging it badly.
Meanwhile, a few villagers, who were passing by, began to scream, shout and made loud noises, driving the tusker back to the forest.
Villagers alleged that the wild tusker which ventures into villages in forest borders during nights, destroy crops and stay put in the land till 8 am until being driven back to the forest by villagers. The villagers also said that the tusker had killed cattle and injured people besides damaging several houses. They have urged the Forest Department to take steps to control the menace of wild elephants in the area.
It may be regaled that since a week, a wild tusker had attacked two cows killing one of them and had also destroyed the house of one Ravi in Huduvepura.
