Suresh Kumar launches ‘Samvidhana Odu’ book distribution programme

Chamarajanagar: Maintaining that Indian Constitution is among the best in the world, Primary and Secondary Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar, who is also Chamarajanagar District in-Charge Minister, said that everyone should take a pledge that they would abide by the Constitution.

He was speaking at ‘Samvidhana Odu’ book mass distribution programme organised under the joint aegis of Primary and Secondary Education department and Samanathe  Prakashana at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan in Chamarajanagar yesterday.

Pointing out that our Constitution is a holy book for us, Suresh Kumar said that Dr. Ambedkar is the Architect of the Constitution, which is to be followed by everyone. Lauding the efforts of MP Sreenivasa Prasad for distributing the book free of cost to PU students, the Minister said that Nov. 26 is being celebrated as ‘Constitution Day.’

Noting that it is the BJP Government which conferred ‘Bharat Ratna’ on Dr. Ambedkar, Suresh Kumar said that every student should read the book in order to understand the underlying principles of our Constitution.

MP Sreenivasa Prasad, in his address, said that India is the biggest Democracy of the world and our Constitution has given the freedom for everyone to openly express their views.

Asserting that it was Dr. Ambedkar who gave the idea of Republic, he said that ‘Samvidhana Odu’ book is being distributed to the students in order to create awareness among them on principles of our Constitution.

Observing that everyone is equal under the Constitution, the MP opined that Dr. Ambedkar and Abraham Lincoln of America are the only global leaders who fought for equality in the society. The American Government, considering the contribution of Dr. Ambedkar for equality and ending discrimination, conferred him a top global award, he added.

Co-operation Minister S.T. Somashekar, in his address, said that Sreenivasa Prasad is a rare politician who has stuck to principles and ideologies. He lauded the efforts of the MP in maintaining social harmony.

He further said that Prasad, who is a senior politician, lost his job as Revenue Minister in the Siddharamaiah-led Congress Govt. due to the conspiracy hatched by some of his own partymen then.

Alleging that some Congress leaders misused the innocence of Prasad, Somashekar said that Prasad is a senior leader who overcame all conspiracies to become Chamarajanagar MP.

Stating that becoming an MP from the same Parliamentary constituency for six terms is no mean achievement in politics, he complimented Prasad for his commitment and dedication for serving the people.

Chamarajanagar MLA and former Minister  C. Puttarangashetty presided. MLAs C.S. Niranjan Kumar and M. Ashwin Kumar, ZP Vice-President Shashikala Somalingappa, Karnataka Compost Development Corporation Chairman S. Mahadevaiah, DC Dr. M.R.
