Minister Manju unveils logo of Mahamastakabhisheka-2018

The Mahamastakabhisheka-2018 logo depicts a legendary devotee Gullekayi Ajji performing abhisheka on the statue of Bahubali. The message is peace and happiness from ahimsa and sacrifice. Gullekayi Ajji Mantapa: An image of immense legendary interest is found in this mantapa at the Jain pilgrim centre. Its open ground floor contains five round pillars, an inscription and an image of the Old Lady (Gullekayi Ajji). The image of Gullekayi Ajji wears a blouse and a pleated saree. According to a local legend, Yakshi Padmavathi transformed herself into an old woman to humble the pride of Chavundaraya.

The logo of Mahamastakabhisheka-2018 of Bhagawan Bahubali, organised once in 12 years, was unveiled by Hassan District In-charge Minister A. Manju last evening at a function held at the premises of Shravanabelagola Mutt here.

Sri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji graced the occasion.

Speaking after the launch, Minister Manju said that lakhs of people are expected to take part in the event to be held in Feb. 2018. He further said that the development works for the event was under progress and the State Government would provide full co-operation for organising the mega event.

MLAs Balakrishna and Gopalakrishna, Mandya ZP President Premakumari, Minister’s wife Tara Manju, DC V. Chaitra, SP Rahul Kumar Shahapuravad and others were present.
