Miscreant snatches gold ornaments from woman working in agri field

Mysuru: A woman, working in an agricultural field, sustained injuries on her ears when a miscreant snatched her earrings and gold chain near Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway on Saturday morning.

The woman, who lost her valuables worth about Rs. 4.50 lakh, is 75-year-old Venkatamma, a resident of Naganahalli.

The accused, who snatched her gold ornaments and sped away on a bike, was wearing a black dress, jerkin and a cap.

On Saturday at about 7.30 am, Venkatamma was working in her agri filed next to the Service Road on Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway when a youth, aged about 25 years, parked his bike on the side of the Service Road, came near Venkatamma and snatched her 37-gram gold mangalya chain and 10-gram earrings.

Before the shocked Venkatamma could scream for help, the accused sped away on his bike towards Mysuru.

Metagalli Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
