Missing Kushalnagar ASI found dead

Body found floating in Konanur Lake

Kushalnagar: Suresh, Assistant Sub-Inspector at Kushalnagar Traffic Police Station, who was missing since 13 days, was found dead. His body in a decomposed state was found in Konanur Lake, Arakalgud taluk on Hassan district yesterday.

The decomposed body of Suresh, who was wearing a T.Shirt and jeans pant, was fished out from the lake with the help of local people and after Konanur Sub-Inspector Manjunath and staff inspected the spot, the information was given to Kushalnagar Traffic Police Station.

Kushalnagar Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gopal and staff Shaji, Sudeesh and Pavithra rushed to Konanur and identified the body as that of ASI Suresh. Circle Inspector Mahesh and Sub-Inspector Appaji also visited the spot. The Police have suspected that Suresh may have committed suicide by jumping into the lake. A case has been registered and the Police are investigating.

It may be recalled that Suresh, a native of Konanur, was residing at a rented house in Siddaiah Layout at Kushalnagar. On Jan. 20, Suresh had returned the penalty receiving receipt book to the Police Station and had told the staff that he would return after two days. He had also made a video call to his wife and daughter in Bengaluru that night.

When calls were made to his mobile phone, it was switched off and his house was locked too. His wife had lodged a missing complaint at Kushalnagar Town Police Station.

It is learnt that Suresh was suffering from nervous disorder and according to the tower location, his phone was switched off at Gummanakolli near Kushalnagar on Jan. 20 night.

A special Police team was also formed to trace Suresh.
