Mysore/Mysuru: Vidu. Rohini G. Rao, a senior Veena artiste from Tumakuru, will be presenting a Veena concert on Sunday (Nov.19) at Jayanagara Ramamandira, in city. She will be accompanied by Vid. Mandya S. Sudarshan on mridanga and Vid. V.S. Ramesh on ghata.
The concert is being organised as part of the birth centenary celebrations of Vid. M.J. Sreenivasa Iyengar (MJS), the legendary Veena exponent.
Vidu. Rohini has been trained under veteran artistes Vid. R.K. Srinivasamurthy and H.S. Krishnamurty and finally by Vid. MJS. Being a B-High graded artiste of the AIR, she has been performing concerts for over 35 years now. She has strived to promote classical music in Tumakuru and has trained a number of students. She has been a recipient of ‘Tumakuru Jilla Kannada Rajyotsava Award’.
Both Vid. Sudarshan and Vid. Ramesh are well-known senior percussionists. The concert on Sunday is scheduled to start at 6 pm and open to all music-lovers.
