Mysuru: JD(S) MLA S.R. Mahesh on Tuesday urged Legislative Assembly Speaker K.B. Koliwad to appoint former Minister Kimmane Ratnakar as Head of the Legislative Committee set up to recommend ways to regulate the media.

In a letter to the Speaker, the MLA said that as Health and Family Welfare Minister K.R. Ramesh Kumar is reluctant to discharge his duty as Chairman of the Committee, former Minister and MLA Kimmane Ratnakar, who is a member of the Committee, be named as the head of the Committee. It may be mentioned here that Ramesh Kumar had recently said that he will not be a party to any move to rein in the media by enacting a Legislation.
