MLA Vasu distributes compensation to rain-affected Paduvarahalli residents

December 29, 2017

Mysuru: Chamaraja MLA Vasu distributed compensation to affected residents of Paduvarahalli (Vinayakanagar) whose houses were damaged due to water gushing during the heavy rains a couple of months ago, at a programme organised at Basaveshwara Samudaya Bhavan in Vinayakanagar here yesterday.

Apart from Rs.3,800 relief out of the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF), Vasu personally contributed Rs.5,000, thus distributing a total of Rs.8,800 to each of the 28 affected families.

Tahsildar Ramesh Babu, Corporator Ramesh, former Corporator Narasimhegowda and other  local leaders were present.

It may be mentioned here that Vasu had provided personal relief of Rs. 3,000 to each family when he inspected the affected areas of the locality following heavy rains on Oct.13.

The authorities, who inspected the affected areas, had prepared an estimate of the losses including damage to 28 houses in the locality, following which a compensation ranging from Rs.20,000 to Rs.1.5 lakh was recommended to the State Government.

Subsequent to the recommendation, the affected families are looking forward to compensation from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Following complaints from Paduvarahalli residents that rain water was gushing to the houses as the water flow was severely affected by Maharani’s College construction works nearby, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) came up with the idea of Magic Box works across the adjacent Hunsur Road.

Now that the magic box installation work has been completed, the residents are hoping that they will not experience the nightmare once again.
