Mysuru: Senior JD(S) MLC Marithibbegowda has appealed Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to set up a Commissionerate of Public Instruction and a Government Evening Polytechnic in city.
In a memorandum submitted to the CM, the MLC has stressed on the need for setting up the Commissionerate in city as it would greatly help in taking education to a much higher level in eight districts coming under Mysuru Revenue Division.
Pointing out that such a Commissionerate was set up in Dharwad and Kalaburagi twelve years ago, he said that setting up one in Mysuru will benefit academic activities in the region.
Highlighting the need for setting up an Evening Polytechnic, he observed that the Polytech can function from CPC Polytechnic, which has necessary infrastructure. More teachers can be appointed to run the Evening Polytech, he said and added that although former CM Siddharamaiah had already made an announcement in this regard, it had not taken shape.
Referring to the political drama going on in the State over the past couple of days, the MLC said that BJP’s efforts to topple the coalition Government will not yield results.
