Mysore/Mysuru: Stating that he was involved in many Kannada movements, MLC A.H. Vishwanath said that he became Kannada and Culture Minister after growing up with Kannada.

He was speaking after inaugurating  a Kannada expo organised jointly by Kannada Sahitya Kalakoota and Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Mysuru City Unit as part of Suvarna Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations at Suchitra Art Gallery in Kalamandira premises here yesterday.

Stressing on the need for voluntary implementation of Kannada rather than by promulgation of an ordinance, Vishwanath opined that the Government’s Kannada implementation plan by making amendments to the Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Act, 2022, is a good development.

Recalling his student days at JSS College in Mysuru, Vishwanath said he was one among the founders of Kannada Abhimani Sangha which had office on N.S. Road.

Asserting that Kannada language and life is very much alive because of the efforts of Kannada activists, he urged the Government to withdraw the cases registered against Kannada activists and farmers to fought for the cause of Kannada.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat Mysuru City Unit President K.S. Shivaramu said that it is natural to have ups and downs in the society.

Stressing on the need for resolving societal issues, he said that launching a movement is the best weapon to seek our rights.

On the occasion, Kannada activists Thayur Vittalamurthy, Mugur Nanjundaswamy, M. Mohankumar Gowda, S. Balakrishna, Tejesh Lokesh Gowda, D.P.K.Paramesh, K.Madesh, Praveen Kumar, B.A.Shivashankar and C.V. Ravishankar were felicitated.

Melukote Vangipura Mutt Seer  Sri Ilai Alwar Swamiji graced the occasion. MLC Dr. D. Thimmaiah, Nypunya School of Excellence Chairman Raghu R. Kautilya, Kannada Sahitya Kalakoota President M. Chandrashekar, Social Worker K. Raghuram and others were present.
