Mobile phone thieves, extortionists arrested

Three phones worth Rs. 78,000, cash, two-wheelers seized

Mysore/Mysuru: In separate cases, Saraswathipuram Police have arrested three persons on charges of stealing mobile phones and looting money and have recovered three mobile phones worth Rs. 78,000 and cash besides seizing two bikes used for the crime.

In the first case, the Cops, on Feb. 9, have arrested two youths, who along with another youth, had robbed a person of his mobile phone and purse containing cash near Fire Brigade Circle on Feb. 1. The arrested are 24-year-old Bharat of Saraswathipuram and 21-year-old Chandu of Kuvempunagar.

During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of committing the crime along with another person and based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered the mobile phone worth Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 400 cash besides seizing two bikes from them. The Cops have launched a hunt to nab their accomplice, who is absconding.

In the second case, Saraswathipuram Police, on Feb. 13, have arrested a youth for robbing two cell phones from a house in Kuvempunagar on Jan. 23 night.

The arrested is 19-year-old Akshay of K.G. Koppal.

During interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed of robbing two mobile phones through the window of the house and based on the information provided by him, the Cops have seized one OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus Nord phones worth Rs. 70,000 from him. 

DCP M.S. Geetha Prasanna and KR Sub-Division ACP Poornachandra Tejaswi supervised Saraswathipuram Inspector C. Thimmaraju, Sub-Inspectors Rachaiah and N. Bhavya and staff Basavaraje Urs, Raghavendra, H.V. Manjunath, Umesh and B.K. Harish Kumar in the nabbing and recovery operation.
