Mysore/Mysuru: The Monthly Music Programme of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru, will be held at its Prof. Y.T. Thathachari auditorium in Vijayanagar 1st Stage here tomorrow.
Invocation by Hindustani Music Students (BVB’s Kalabharathi Wing) at 5.35 pm; Introduction of artistes by Dr. Tulasi Ramachandra at 5.40 pm; Music Programme by Vid. N.R. Prashanth (Karnatak Vocal), Vid. Keshava (violin) and Vid. Radhesh (mridanga) from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Profile: Vid. N.R. Prashanth, born in 1967, is a celebrated Karnatak Vocalist known for his innovative musical style, deeply rooted in tradition.
An Engineering graduate from the University of Mysore, Prashanth’s dedication to music has earned him global acclaim.
Having taught at The Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society and held positions such as Principal Tutor and Academy Registrar, Prashanth’s musical excellence has been recognised with awards like the ‘Best Musician’ by Bangalore Gayana Samaj and the ‘Aryabhata International Award’, ‘Swara Laya Ratna’, ‘Kala Jyothi’ and many more.
He has contributed significantly through collaborative projects, converting Karnatak pieces into staff notations and preserving the musical heritage. Beyond performances, his involvement in transformative projects with institutions like Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and NIAS demonstrates his commitment to advancing Karnatak music.
