Moonlight music at Suttur tomorrow

Mysuru:  Vidwan Pattabhirama Pandit will present a vocal music concert at the monthly moonlight music programme to take place at Suttur Mutt at the foot of Chamundi Hill in city at 6 pm tomorrow (May 18).

Vidwan Pattabhirama Pandit learnt his first lessons in music from his mother M.S. Nagarathna and later from Vallabham Kalyanasundaram, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. S. Ramanathan and Prof. Palghat K.V. Narayanaswamy. At present, he is under the tutelage of Padma Narayanaswamy.

An ‘A’ grade artiste of Akashvani, he has bagged many awards and prizes including Yuva Purandara award, Sathyashri award and Kendra Sangeet Natak Academy’s prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Samsmarana award.

He will be accompanied by Vidwan Mysore A. Chandan Kumar on flute, Vidwan H.S. Sudheendra and Vidwan K.U. Jayachandra Rao on mridanga.

Vidwan Chandan Kumar is the great grandson of Piteel Chowdaiah. After learning his first music lessons from Vidwan M. Gopalakrishna, he is currently tutored by P.S. Narayanaswamy. An ‘A’ grade artiste of Akashvani and Doordarshan, he has bagged Kendra Sangeet Natak Academy’s Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar.

Vidwan H.S. Sudheendra learnt  had early lessons from his parents H.Srinivas Rao and Indira and later from Vidwan M. Vasudeva Rao and Mushnam V. Raja Rao. He is the founder Principal of Bengaluru’s Suswaralaya College of Music.

Vidwan K.U.Jayachandra Rao comes from a family of Musicians. His father K. Raghavendra Rao is a flutist and his mother K.R. Prema Rao a violinist.
