Mysuru: As part of Suttur Mutt’s monthly moonlight music programme, Vid. Pattabhirama Pandit will present a musical concert at the Mutt premises, foot of Chamundi Hill here at 6 pm on Jan.21 (Monday). He will be accompanied by Vid. Mysuru A. Chandan Kumar on flute.
Profile: Having learnt his early music lessons from his mother M.S. Nagarathna and Vidu. Vallabham Kalyanasundaram, Pattabhirama Pandit was later tutored by Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. S. Ramanathan and Palghat K.V. Narayanaswamy. An ‘A’ grade Akashvani artiste, he has bagged many awards and prizes including Yuva Purandara Award, Sathyashri Award and Ustad Bismillah Khan Award of Kendra Sangeetha Nataka Academy.
Vid. Mysuru A. Chandan Kumar is the great-grandson of violin maestro Piteelu Chowdaiah. Having learnt his primary lessons from Vid. M. Gopalakrishna, he is currently being tutored by Vidwan P. S. Narayanaswamy. An ‘A’ Grade artiste of Akashavani and Doordarshan, he has won Ustad Bismillah Khan Youth Award.
Other accompanists include Vid. H.S. Sudheendra (mridanga) and Vid. K.U. Jayachandra Rao. Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji grace the occasion.
