Articulate Dance Festival at Veene Seshanna Bhavana on Jan. 20

Mysuru:  Articulate Festival, coordinated by Mysore B. Nagaraj, Managing Trustee, Articulate Trust for Arts, is conducted on 3rd Sunday of every Month. Accomplished Classical dancers both from India and abroad take part in this festival.  

On Sunday, 20th January, in its 32nd series, artistes are scheduled to perform in Odissi and Bharatanatyam starting 6 pm at Veene Seshanna Bhavana, Kuvempunagar. Entry is free. This series presents four performances, two solos and two duets:   Odissi by Suranjana Endow, Bharatanatyam by Vidya V. Thayoor, Bharatanatyam duets by Kashmira Trivedi & Swati Badle and Deepika Potdar & Shruti Abhishek.

Profiles

Shruti Abhishek & Deepika Potdar have put in more than 2 decades of performance time in Bharatanatyam. Started under the tutelage of Guru Rohini Singhi of Bharatanjali Nrityalaya, Mumbai, both Shruti and Deepika are graduates in Performing Arts, from the esteemed Nalanda Nrityakala Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai. Deepika Potdar Panchamukhi is a Graded artiste of  Doordarshan, Mumbai Kendra. Shruti Abhishek runs her own dance school Kshetram in San Francisco, USA. Both have performed across USA, Germany, France, Taiwan, Poland and Moldova.

Kashmira Trivedi is and continues to be the disciple of renowned Guru  Deepak Mazumdar, Mumbai. She has performed at many prestigious dance festivals and is a senior examiner of Graduation and Post-Graduation examinations of Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal. She has been conferred Satyabhama Excellence Award, Girnar Ratna, National Nritya Shiromani and many more. She organises ‘Tarang Utsav’ and ‘Tarang Ratna’ dance festivals.

Swati Badle started her Bharatanatyam training under Guru Kashmira Trivedi and has attained a proficient level of performance. She joins her Guru in the Festival in a duet format.

Suranjana Endow started training in Odissi dance under Susmita Bhattacharya and now furthers under Guru Sharmila Mukerjee of Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance, Bengaluru. Examined and certified ‘Sangeet Bivakar’ by Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, she made her debut in 1999 and ever since performed extensively  including Tunisia under the aegis of Ministry of Culture

Vidya V. Thayoor has more than 21 years of performance experience in Bharatanatyam.  Started learning under Guru Bhavani Ramnath of Nrityarpana and is currently under Dr. Soundarya Srivatsa at  Nartana Keertana Centre for Performing Arts. She is a graded artiste of Doordarshan.
