Mysore/Mysuru: Vidushi Spoorthi Rao will present a vocal concert as part of Suttur Mutt’s Monthly Moonlight Music Programme-258 to take place at Suttur Mutt at the foot of Chamundi Hill here at 6 pm on Aug. 31. She will be accompanied by Vidushi C.V. Shruthi on violin, Vidwan K.V. Prasad on mridanga and Vidwan Sharat Kaushik on ghata.

Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will grace the occasion.

PROFILES

Vidushi Spoorthi Rao is a household name in Vocal Music. Learning her early music lessons as a child from her mother Sindhu, Spoorthi later trained under the likes of Vidwan  Yashaswi Subbarao, Vidushis Ranjani and Gayathri at Chennai. She has taken part in many of renowned playback singer S.P. Bala-subramaniam’s (SPB) music concerts across the globe and earned name and fame.

She became an Akashvani artiste at a young age of just 8 years and has earned many prizes and awards. She has more than 50 lakh YouTube followers, which goes to show her popularity as a Vocal artiste.

Vidushi C.V. Shruthi comes from a family of Musicians. After her initial training under renowned Violinist H.K. Narasimhamurthy of Mysuru, she is currently training under the famed Akkarai Sisters. She has won many awards including ‘Pakkavadya Saathi’ prize of Ganabharathi, best performance prize given by Nadamaya Samsthe.

Vidwan K.V. Prasad took interest in Music at a ripe age and trained under Vidwan Ernakulam Narayana Iyer and later under Palakkad Music College Principal Parassala Ravi and Sangeeta Kalanidhi T.K. Murthy. He is currently an ‘A Grade’ artiste of Akashvani, Chennai and has taken part in many International Music Festivals.

Vidwan Sharat Kaushik is a promising  Musician of Karnataka. Apart from mridanga, he has gained expertise in ghata. He had his early training under Vidwan V.S. Ramesh and later trained under Vidwan Tumkur B. Ravishankar. Also a Software Engineer, he is currently a ‘B-High Grade’ Akashvani artiste.
