Numerous reports have appeared in SOM about footpath encroachments by vendors thus risking lives of pedestrians who are forced to walk on the road, even though footpaths are meant for pedestrians.

In Hebbal too one can see the tiled footpath from  CITB Choultry to Ring Road junction almost fully occupied by chaat and other types of eatable vendors.

During evenings — between 6 pm and 9 pm — there will be heavy crowd.

The vehicles, particularly two-wheelers of the customers visiting these carts,  are parked on the roadside occupying some portion of one side of the road thus forcing the  pedestrians to walk on the road risking their lives.

While we are not against  the vendors who are doing  business for their livelihood,   let the  authorities concerned provide  them  some  specific place,  say open unused place inside the Choultry or other suitable spot  opposite  to the CITB Choultry, where  they  can be accommodated to do their business, so that footpaths are free for pedestrians.

It may also be good on the part of the City Corporation to  put railings on the side of footpath from  Abhishek Circle to Ring Road junction or up to Leo Janani Apartments so that push carts and goods autos cannot climb on the footpath.

Hope, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) authorities will  take some suitable  measures so that footpaths will be free from  vendors and the pedestrians can use footpaths  during peak hours without risking their lives.
