Over the last few days, there have been several suggestions on payment of Property Tax (three suggestions in fact). I agree with two. The one I do not agree with and think it not at all a safe suggestion with the spread of COVID-19 is the one where one reader has recommended that MCC organise collection of Property Tax door-to-door.

It is a bad suggestion and a perfect way to sneak in the virus on people who faithfully and safely observe the lockdown regulations.

The other two suggestions: One online payment of tax. I feel it is strange that this option has not yet been implemented even when the software has been acquired at tax-payers money and not utilised. It makes me wonder if vested interests are blocking the implementation of this tax-payer friendly option. If implemented I will wholeheartedly utilise this option.

The third option though is a stop-gap option which will be in the interest of the Government and the tax-payer. As suggested, any difference of amount can be made up in the next tax cycle.

Both the second and third suggestions are good options but since the second option is not yet implemented we should go for the third option.
