June 16, 2025

Mysuru:  Maintaining that most of our bureaucrats are honest, C.V. Gopinath, President of the city’s Anathalaya Trust, who is also a retired Additional Secretary to Government of India, said that the entire bureaucracy cannot  be blamed for the follies of a few.

He was speaking after presiding over Thathaiah memorial lecture series on the topic ‘ UPSC civil services competitive exam- tools and devices for cracking the exams — several dimensions of objectives and preparations,’ organised at the Anathalaya in K.R. Mohalla yesterday.

Stating that one does not like talking to an IAS Officer when people meet  MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif, Gopinath said that the IAS Officer is so courteous and humble while communicating with the public. Pointing out that humanity will help in acquiring more knowledge, he said that degrees will have more value if he develop human values. Writing is more important than reading as it is of much help in comprehending the topics, he added.

MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif in his address, said that clarity on the objective, purpose and skills hold key for cracking civil services exams.

“Everyone should contribute to the society. Interacting with knowledgeable persons will help in enhancing knowledge. There should always be a hunger for learning,” Asif said adding that we should take failures as challenges to move up the ladder of success.

Stressing on the need for having good habits and hobbies, the MCC Commissioner said that personality, self-confidence and self-strength  are key for success.

Anathalaya Directors Chitkala and Nagamani Sampath, Joint Director Venkatesh R. Padaki, Secretary H. Ashwathnarayan and others were present.
