Mother, son assaulted by gang over old rivalry

Hunsur: A gang of six persons, who barged into a house at Kolagatta village in the taluk last evening, have assaulted a woman and her son with knives over old rivalry. The injured duo has been admitted to a hospital.

While the injured mother and her son have been identified as Kumari and Chandrashekar, who are undergoing treatment at a hospital, those who assaulted them have been identified as Seena alias Srinivas, Naga, Suhas and Rachappaji of R.S. Naidu Nagar in Mysuru and Yogesh and Mahadeva of Kolagatta village.

The gang of six assaulters, who came in a Maruti Swift car (KA-55 M-6505) and two bikes last evening, went near the house of Kolagatta Krishna and began to shout asking for Chandrashekar and caught hold of both the hands of Kumari from behind, tore her clothes and assaulted her.

Chandrashekar, who came to the house, questioned the gang as to why they were assaulting his mother, the assaulters, who reportedly said that they were looking for him, caught hold of him and assaulted him besides injuring him with a knife on his neck, shoulder and arm.

Meanwhile, Kolagatta Krishna’s brother Yogesh, a teacher, who came to know about the incident, informed the Police, who rushed to the spot.

On seeing the Cops, the assaulters hid inside a house and the Police managed to catch hold of Naga and Seena, while the rest escaped in the car and bikes.

Chandrashekar, speaking to media persons, said that Rachappaji had brought some persons from Mysuru and had assaulted him. He said that Rachappaji’s wife Shobha had come to the hospital and had threatened to kill them in the hospital and expressed fear about their safety at the hospital.

Bilikere Police, who have registered a case in this regard, have launched a hunt to nab the absconding persons.
